Chris Messer Lapping
Hey all came across some videos that Chris and I were working on. This is Chris Lapping his Camaro. Hope you like it. It brought back some good memories for me.:burnout:

Haha...that thing is mean! Great vids! :D

It doesn't look safe going through the sweeper...haha...it almost seems too wide! :faint:

The Sweeper was part of it that made it fun.

Cleaning my shorts isn't what I call fun. :hihi:

What's a Camreo? :)

It's like a "Camero" (LOL) only different. Both are similar to the Camaro...

ArchangelX 08-03-2006 09:23 AM

It's the same difference. :hihi:

Latka 08-03-2006 09:26 AM

I like the Cervette and Impola as well. ;) Hehehehehheeh.

I'm sure he was going fast, but it just didn't look like it in the video. Maybe it was the lack of other cars around. Kinda quiet....but still cool. Makes me miss the 'ole HRP.

DGGM9D6SS 08-03-2006 09:33 AM

I was thinking the same thing. his engine sounds like it's barely straining, yet he looks like he's going around the course a helluva lot faster than I did.

Check this vid from my last Super Laps... and the reason I have smooth bumpers and new paint on the right side of my car... LOL

Actually Rick...you were doing better than the M5 in the corners. In fact, your braking and entry was much better than his...he pulled away from you on the straight-aways, but you always caught him in the big corners. Er...minus that last time.

At least you didn't scream out a ton of expletives like I would have. :D

DGGM9D6SS 08-03-2006 09:59 AM

I need gears. I would come out of most corners at the bottom of second and have nothing to pull with... once the car hits 3500, I'm fine, but by then, he was gone. 3.73s are in that car's near future.

Thanks for the compliments, though... means alot. I still got alot to learn.

Latka 08-03-2006 08:36 PM

Yeah, I think I would have let loose a nice stream of stuff as I headed for the outside guard rail!

Nice driving. That slushbox means you can hold your Slurpee with the free hand! ;) http://sandpants91284.tripod.com/sit...es/slurpee.jpg

Can I make one suggestion though? I'd make the music volume less than the car volume. It was loud enough that I expected some MTV style crazy camera cuts and chicks in bikinis. :D

Cool laps though! I miss our little turdball track already. Then again, lapping it in the big Battle Wagon Impala looks like a lot more fun than the tiny 40hp Mini was! ...we did have time for conversations on the front straight though. :singer:

DGGM9D6SS 08-04-2006 07:08 AM

Yea, sorry about that... I actually turned it down in the recording from what it was downloaded at... but I agree. It's alittle overpowering.

I really miss the track too. Not one of the best road courses, but I felt it was a pretty good one to learn on. Just enough technical stuff to keep you busy. I just wish it was smoother in the off camber and Turn #1! LOL... only lapping 46s, I had quite alot of time and the straights as well...

chrismharj 08-04-2006 12:26 PM

that's my hunny:yl2jump:

ArchangelX 08-04-2006 12:45 PM

Boing...Boing. :gapteeth:

Chris Messer 08-04-2006 05:35 PM

you're right.... it looks slow

I think this was shot while running on some old yokohama's that sucked for grip... thus the spin...hahahah:punch2:

DGGM9D6SS 08-05-2006 07:06 AM

Least you didn't hit anything... I felt the 20 or so tires against the guardrail needed rearranging.... with my quarter panel. LOL

Chris Messer 08-05-2006 10:27 AM

I've been pretty lucky with my personal cars.... crashed alot of Tom's school cars in the past, however, most spectacular crash being when I was learning to drive the Formula Hawaii cars..... I swapped ends in 5th gear when initiating breaking for the chicane (at over 120mph). Fortunately the car stayed on track and I locked up the brakes (going backwards) and ended up hitting the guardrail where the flagman stands at about 40mph, or so, taking off the left rear corner and rear wing. I never made the same mistake again (the mistake was turning and brakingat the same time then overcorrecting at high speed).

Devil Boy 08-06-2006 09:31 PM

Cool Videos!! I remember that day Rick crashed. I was caught behind him somewhere waiting for the track to be cleaned up.

Here's my contribution. One lap clip. I think it was the same M5 in front of me too, but my 4 screaming squirrels of power don't stand a chance of keeping up.

Latka 08-07-2006 06:43 AM

Why is it that you look like you're going so much faster than the Impala of Doom?

I hope we have a new crop of videos after the SCCA Solo II event on the 20th.

I'd really love to see someone start up a NASA chapter out here. Their classification system is a lot easier to use than the 4,000,000 classes of SCCA!

Looks like some places they run both at the same event.

royuno 08-07-2006 06:45 PM

Aw man! I should've taken an onboard camera shot of my lapping! That would've been epic!

I take that back, it would've been horribly boring. lol.

Hehehe... <blush> Sorry about that... I remember seeing a blue BMW behind me gaining on the back stretch right before I spun in the chicane. When I got sideways in the gravel, I thought, "Oh, shit, please don't hit me!"... but realized he probably knew I was gonna spin before I did, and he was hard on the brakes and way, way away from me when I finally stopped sliding... LOL I felt bad you all had to sit there while they cleaned up MY mess... It was a good learning expereince. :wedgie: No one can accuse me of babying my car... I drive that bi*ch like it owes me money! LOL

corytomo 08-08-2006 05:47 AM

Just like my little crash in the same place as you DG!
It was fun :D

DGGM9D6SS 08-08-2006 07:18 AM

LOL... yea, funny, isn't it? Everyone who knows me keeps asking why I didn't let out a stream of explitives a mile long and at 150 decibels... LOL I almost enjoyed the spin - almost! It taught me alot about my car and how it reacts. I wish it wasn't such an expensive lesson, but I actually had a smile on my face the rest of the day.
