Hi all,
With the advent of Facebook and other social media, forums have really taken a hit. HT is practically dead now and I'm not sure about what I can do to bring it back beyond spending money on advertising and word of mouth. Regardless, HawaiiTalks will always be here regardless of whether people use it or not as long as I have the backups on the server.
I'm introducing a new website though and I'd like to share the current group and reason for it's development. I have a group on Facebook called Stolen Stuff Hawaii and it's dedicated to helping our community report, find, and even sometimes retrieve their stolen items as well as providing warnings and lookouts for criminals. Its grown into quite the group, with over 7,000 members and it is very active.
Facebook however is very limited in its tools, so I'm building a companion website that will provide much of the same thing, only more detailed as well as offering better moderation tools, blogs, and much more. It will hopefully have a very active discussion forum so I'll be inviting all of you to join us there if you like when it opens later this month.
If you'd like to visit the group for now, please join and become a part of it. You can find it here:

It's a great group, thanks all, and have a great day!
