Default 1969 GTO Recon?

(1969 GTO) I can't find any reconstruction information on classic cars of this era. Can anyone point me in the right direction? The GTO I have is resto/mod, pro touring. Nothing is original except for the interior and body. I can be more specific and include pics if anyone needs.

Do I need a recon inspection for this car?

Would it fall under the same rules for all other cars? If so I don't think it would have any chance of passing.

All comments are welcome "even if its bad news".

Got any pics?

If I remember correctly, any welds on the frame/etc. should be "clean" (no bird-crap welds), wheels/tires should be under the fender. Not exactly sure what the bumper height should be...but you should be able to get specifics from calling the recon station. I wouldn't mind seeing a pic of it though...just to see if there's anything else that might be an issue.

Thanks, I do plan on talking with the recon station this week. I just wanted to see what anyone could tell me before I did. Seems like there is a lot of conflicting info out there. Here's some pics.

I think the best thing to do is to call and ask the recon guys. Just tell them what's been modified, you don't even have to go into specifics. When I went, the form just asked what was stock and what was modified. It didn't ask for specific engine type or anything like that. You're car looks beautiful BTW. I want one.

Nice job. The only thing that might be an issue is suspension travel (front). I've heard recon had issues with that when people with dropped cars take it in for inspection. But it seems all the ones that didn't pass (or the ones who complained about not passing) were the foreign-compact/"rice" cars. Supposedly recon wants x-amount of suspension travel. How they go about checking that is unscientific/inconsistent. But your best bet is to call. You might end up getting lucky once they see it. They might overlook some things because it's a clean/classic/modded american muscle car. I wouldn't count on it though.

Recon went well. Two issues, 1st was the rear bumper was too high. I simply lowered it. I was riding it too high that day. 2nd was an issue with the front turn signals. They were white, not amber. Quick trip to Napa down the road fixed it. And HPD was kind enough to pull me over on the way back to the recon office. The officer diddn't give me a hard time. Overall, the recon office was very easy to work with. The car was well built and is safe. That was definatley their concern. My saftey inspection had a couple of issues, but it's done. The car is registered. Altough it took some time to do, it was fairly painless.

Thanks all, see you on the streets.
