Default Alright...now I have to agree...Karters have got nuts.

Either that...or they ARE nuts.

Yah...we'll but some of those huge KC truck lights on the front of it, and slap some blinkers on the back. Tom will have to drive it though...I'll be filming when he gets pulled over.

go karters have the most fun for the buck, nothing like 65-70 and then into a tight corner and some times 2-3 abreast. and talk about esy to fix just a 1 cylinder 2 stroke with 1 moving part, should come out and watch on the 26th

I thought the video was a bit rediculous..... I think the Monte Carlo has a 40 Gallon Fuel cell.... that would take me about 100+ miles.... headlights don't function, but I don't think it would bottom out like the Formula Hawaii would!

I just saw the video, thought it was awesome, wouldn't recommend it to anyone though. Reminds me of when I worked at Skip Barber Racing School, Hawaii. We were operating out one of the warehouses in Campbell and the only way to get the Formula Fords to the track (without towing them one by one) was to drive them on the road. We would come out of the warehouse, drive down to where the signal light is, hang a right and go down the main boulevard and into the drag strip gate. I think we reached 100mph because cars (and semi's) are at about 50mph. Yes we would blow by them as if they're parked! Twice a day/almost everyday. Saw a cop every now and then, but they were always looking the other way.

Our mechanic, Sean, actually crashed one at the end of Malakole Street. He was testing the gearbox or something and when he hung a u-turn, he hit sand and plowed into a telephone pole. Man, Bill C. (owner of SBRS-H) was so pissed. Well, I shouldn't talk, I crashed 2 of his cars, one really bad.

He he. No, that was actually Shige Sr. Long course turn 1. Stupid beginner driver mistake. Locked up under braking, swerved to avoid running into the back of Shige's car and t-boned him as he was turning in and got launched over the top of him. After we came to a rest, I looked back to see if he was OK and he was shaking his fist at me! He was so disappointed that I took him out of the race that he could have beat the mainland Skip Barber "hot shot" Instructor Rich Rutherford (the son of Dick Rutherford. The guy that was promoting the "Hawaiian Super Prix" back in the mid 90's). They started us 3 in the back and within 2 laps was running up front when it happened. It was very humiliating for me because I crashed one of the cars the day before scrubbing in tires and bedding brakes. I wanted to give up racing at that time, but Bill convinced me not to. Good thing, we may have not had a Super Lap Series.

Yeah, now I can laugh. Cleaned off the right side of my car and the left side of Shige's. Shige had a scrape mark on the top of his helmet he used to remind me of every now and then. The scrape mark came from the bottom of my car! Thank goodness for roll hoops!

I was a witness, saw it all, just nutz. Shige was real calm after about 10 minutes. Funny

Out of all the drivers I've met throughout my lifetime (it's in the hundreds), I can only pick out 2 that truly deserve the title of being "fast". That is Bob Loubenberg (sp?) and Shigehito Hirabayashi. Bob drove Group C (24 hours Le man) cars back in the early '80's when they were hitting 260mph! He also has 6 Formula Ford national titles, 2 continental titles and won just about every series he's entered. Shige's highlight was winning the Japan touring car championship back in '84. Both were exceptional in my eyes as far as talented drivers. A very rare thing indeed.

And fun to be around too. Met plenty of the best around the world, Doc, Mario, AJ, Tracy etc and some were nice and some were nasty. Shige was just plain fun, even when he was pissed. Hehe.
