Default Mainland Drifting Crash

How the hell can you crash in those huge parking lots that they use for drifting on the mainland? Who's designing these courses so that drivers are right up on the walls even though an infinite amount of space is available?

Yeah - he looked like he was going about 4 times faster than he needed to be.

That's ok though. One less "fast and furious" graphic application out there.

Default Z Crash

Okay, sounds like he started in first, then up shifted to second, then to third. This is like approaching our Sweeper corner and locking up the brakes and hitting the outside barrier head-on. Don't those cars come with ABS? Maybe he shouldn't of deactivated it.

While pulling the fuse on the traction control, he probably thought, hey lemme get rid of the ABS while I'm at it! Thank goodness for the trash barrel...could have been concrete pole!

Taking a look at the vid again, it looks like the barrel slow him down some and it was a tree (not a concrete pole, I'm thinking Japan) that stopped him. What is a tree doing on the race track? You probably heard this one before "Oh, Ocifer I was driving along, minding my own business when this tree jump out in front of me" "Honest to God".

Pulling the fuse? You can't switch off the VDC like you can in the G35s?

I think this was at Qualcomm parking lot in San Diego for the Formula D licensing. Apparently there were a lot of crashes and people were blaming the design of the course. Because of that, Qualcomm won't allow any more drifting at their venue, citing drifting being too dangerous.

This is what happens when someone (who is obviously pretty serious about his sport) makes up for limited track time by too steep a learning curve... he was definitly looking overconfident

Looks to me like he caught some understeer and lost it. I'm not gonna say anything bad, hope the guy was alright. That has happened to me before, luckily at slower speeds and further away from solid objects. But it sure does make me wonder about the original question, with the ammount of space they have and the ability to design the course as they see fit, why make the course by walls and stuff? I thought that was the whole point of these cone tracks on the mianland, no damage when you goof up except maybe the bodykit or whatever. If that was the the recent FD qualifying I heard 11 cars crashed.
