Looks pretty good! I'm not familiar with the F201. Does this conversion involve a lot of moding?

Not to mention shorten the chassis by a few inches! Looks great so far...any idea how your going to run the steering setup yet? I'm thinking for balance if you put the servo in the back on the opposite side of the chassis from the motor you could run a long tie rod up to a bell crank setup up front.

Darn, I guess the mini TL01 is better if you don't have much time. Still a cool idea though!!!

Since I bought the Mini Genetic in the hopes that I would be able to race it at OCS which I really don't have the time for, I'm planning on selling it as a roller w/ stock Futaba servco. The car has never been run, yet. I have two sets (one set belted & another set non-belted) of HPI X-Pattern Tires not even glues to the rims, yet. Also, the Spice White 5-Spoke Rims & Kawada Silver Mesh Rims. I have two brand new unpainted & uncut Colt Subaru Impreza Bodies. There is a bunch of hopups from Tamiya, Square, & ABC Hobby on the car. If anyone is willing to shell out $300, it's yours, so PM me if you're interested.

I guess this car would be legal for Mini? Those 240z's could sell like hotcakes! (got link from rctech.net)

I'm so glad that HPI went back to the roots of RC with this new chassis.

1. Scale look: been missing in the latest trend, but came back with the TA and WGT class. Tamiya's been doing it forever, but the rest of the racing scene just went kinda weird these days

2. Unbuilt: RTR's take half of the fun away from RC. It may be eaiser for people to get into, but for the long run, understanding how your car works is important. You build a car, you develop some attachment to it, keeping you involved in it imo.

3. Affordable: I have yet to see the pricing, but HPI claims it to be affordable. Good concept in our current economic times. From the looks of it, it doesn't seem like you need anything else to be competitive.

Looking forward to it. Love the mechanical engineering that went into it. Hopefully one day we can have a classis sports car class for mini.

Wait that fits Mini bodies? I originally thought it was 1/10th only. Now looking at the new link it says it fits M Chassis bodies...which ones fit? Will the Civic? That Datson looks hot! But is it the same size? I was looking at the new front wheel drive car but if this one can be made legal my mind may have just been changed!

Man where did this thing come from

I would definately be interested in racing one of these!

That Datsun would be even more sweet if it is a 225mm wb! My M04M needs a new shell

Will be interesting to see how much this thing is and what other bodies they have coming out?

Burt the wheelbase is adjustable between 210mm (M03) and 225mm (M03M) So it will fit most any of the M-Chassis bodies that fit these 2 wheelbases like the Mini Cooper and Civic.

Interesting that HPI would choose now to release 2 mini sized cars at the same time.

O.K. a couple of things I am not liking (hopefully they won't be issues?)

1st the Micro RS4 style front bumper/body mount is one thing as this was a weak point on the MRS4 and looks like it would be one on this?

2nd the MRS4 style wheel hex mount system. This one is a 3 tab design unlike the 2 tab design of the MRS4. And the screw holding the wheel on? Time will tell how well it holds up I guess. I bet they will have some nice aluminum stuff to upgrade to

Found some new info. Seems this will be released in japan this month with a msrp of ~27,000yen, which is about $300 in today's currency. But as we all know this will not be the street price. I'm guessing somewhere around $220-$230 range?

You get two types of kits. the 240Z and the levin. 240 comes with grip tires, and the levin comes with drift tires.

Judging from the looks of it, I don't see why a normal mini rim won't fit. The way the tires goes on is just like the tamtech series and they hold up pretty well. I'm sure after market will make alum hex adapters.

Ouch! $220! While not high it isn't exactly low either

That puts it in the price range of Full Carbon Fiber Mini's out there like the Xpress.

Yes this is a kit but that's it. It's not coming with any electronics is it? At $220 that's more then a TA-05!

But I will admit it is a much kewler setup.

Apparently, they use a different size tire/wheel than a traditional mini. Luckily, the regular mini wheels fit (according to HPI).

It looks like the Cup Racer tires only fit Cup Racer wheels (?). The wheels have an extra lip on them similar to the TA wheels (Vintage). The standard Cup Racer tires (M compound) seem pretty soft but there's a "soft" compound coming out too. Has anyone actually driven their Cup Racers yet? Do the stock tires work OK?
