Well you did...I never had more then 1 set of tires...on rare occasion I would have a different compound set to adjust to conditions.

Yeah that's a beautiful chassis conversion. I saw it over at RCTech. You can buy it here: http://www.v-dezign.net/kits.html

This one may not look as sexy because it's mostly hand made...but the molded chassis is very interesting.

Well there's alot of stuff they changed, the only things I see that they kept from the RC12L4 is the front suspension and T-plate, also they switched from the friction discs to the damper tubes and it looks easier to swap out the motor and tape down the batteries. Thats all I noticed, might be more to it.

Well since we are discussing alternative chassis I figured it would be a good idea to make a list of the different 1/12th scale pan cars available, that I can think of anyway. Let me know if you see others and I'll add them to the list

Inspector..

I think the slapmaster has really caught my attention..

I was wondering if you could help me on this question..or anyone could help me on this one...

What are the advantages/disadvantages on switching from friction disks to dampner tubes..

I am really looking to convert soon...

thanks

That's pretty much all the 1/12ths out there that I've found...conversions or full kits.

As for the damper tubes vs damper disks...damper tubes only dampen the side to side movement of the pod. Damper disks dampen in all directions so add to the existing dampening on the shock allready. Damper tubes are also easier to maintain and change dampening on as it doesn't take as much disassembly of the car. Damper disks benifit is probably in the weight and simplicity.

Tires...

Okay..another question...

Need some tires...do I need to invest in a truer (spelling??) for my tires. I know 12th scale tires or the foams do get chucked and worn out....do I need one of these..is it a necessity???

A tire truer is nice to have but not necessary. The cost of premounted tires is only slightly higher then if you make your own. But if you want specific tire diameters the truer is nice to have. Also you can use one to fix chunks buy cutting out sections from a spare tire to fill in the chunks and gluing them into the chunked area, then truing the new pieces down to tire height. With manufacturers using CA now to hold the foam on to the rim less people are mounting their own tires.

No need tire truer, just keep rotating your tires after each run and adjust front end to wear flat

np I'll bring them by whenever you need them.
the L4 uses a D ring for the diff but I'll check if I got some old stealth rings left over. also you can sand your old ones if they arn't worn to badly

Got the 1/4 washers on the rear pod this morning. Went down to CityMill to pick um up. No more wheel rubbing in the rear now. Runs real good as well..just picked me up some Sunscreen lotion as well.

I guess I'm ready for the upcoming race for this class. Now gotta see which sedan I going bring out...TRF MRE or the EVO IV????

Problem with washers though is they rub on both the inner and outer race of the bearings...shims only contact the inner race of the bearings.
