Today, I will go to the Japanese bakery right near my office and get one of those ham rolls. With garlic, onion, and cheese.
I remember Saint-Germain Bakery in Shirokiya had awesome ham/mushroom/onion/pizza rolls.

Polynesian paralysis! I get that every now and then.

Ended up with a pizza bread from Nene Goose Bakery. Hey, they had a great write up from the Cat Dish.

yeah - we were supposed to crunch on Friday because we're off to DC for a week next week, but we were all pretty useless. actually had to come in to work today to fix errors we made yesterday because we were rushing and not really quite awake.

we'd heard the portions were small, but the food was good (and the portions were bigger than we thought). i didn't eat for the rest of the day until about 8 or 9 p.m. (it was pretty heavy, rich food).

i still don't want to look at another hamburger patty or loco moco again for a long time.

Hamura's Saimin from Kauai.

One of the benefits of wife going to Kauai to take mom-in-law back home for a few weeks.

That's the same style of baking that Nene Goose does. They've been in Keolu for about 15 years or thereabouts.

They survived the economic slowness when the theater (the "anchor" of the small mall) was closed for a few years. Other businesses have left (Satellite City Hall, Goodwill, a baby clothing store), but the bakery is still chugging along!

I'm bummed that they are closed on my two busiest office days (today and tomorrow). The only other day I'm on the windward side is Friday; that's my bakery day!

Family took me to Ming's Chinese Restaurant for my late b-day.

Excellent food and service...and the interesting thing...unlike most Chinese restaurants, there is a "lightness" about this place, in the two times we ate here this year (never did before), conversations (many in Chinese) are light and not "harsh", there is laughter, the table service is excellent, and of course the food (Shanghai style) is awesome. Eating roasted duck in two ways (traditional and "Shanghai; oyster sauce-y kind of glaze, not crispy but really tender) was my highlight.

We originally were going to the Old Spaghetti Factory (before they close up Ward Warehouse if the developers have their way), but decided last minute (wife did)...we just went to Wah Kung on Thursday too...is it possible to be all "Chinese fooded out"?

I want a cheap, greasy McD's hamburger today.

Teddy's isn't bad... not necessarily cheap, but depending on what you get, good...

Default Breakfast Fried Rice

Just curious. Today's my day off, so every other Monday I whip up some fried rice for the family (kids homeschooled, wife comes home from work at about 10:00 am or so, plus my mom-in-law).

What do you put in your fried rice?

Today's one was my "normal" breakfast recipe; spam, onion, scrambled eggs, fridge rice (not the one cooked last night, still in the warmer), a touch of oyster sauce, japanese okonomiyake salt/pepper blend (brother brought from Osaka), green onion. That's it.

I also make fried rice with; portuguese sausage, onion, scrambled eggs, fridge rice, and chopped up kim chee (with lots of red sauce), green onion.

Just wondering what else I can put in. Or other flavorings (shrimps, etc.) I like fried rice. Easy way to rid of leftover rice.

i make fried rice w/ all the above except for kim chee. son and i just go for it when we make fried rice. never the same twice. sometimes we use bacon, bacon spam, portuguese sausage, onions, green onions, celery, carrots, (no peas) and just make meatfest.

Those are awesome, especially if you're starving after a long day. I ought to ask my wife if we can take a break from the Costco pizzas (which are also great and priced right) for a change!

yeah, the price is right but you can only eat so many of those things - the thick crust just gets chewy and not enjoyable after a while and you want something different like a thin crust or stuffed crust.

these have a thin crust that bakes just right - golden brown and crispy!

It's not raining really hard, but on cool, rainy evenings, a bowl of Sun noodles is really a great thing.

Especially when it's "fixed up" with bok choy, mixed sprouts, fresh char siu, and cracked pepper.

My wife is a genius.

We stretched the Costco rotisserie chicken three days, three meals.

1st day; Chicken (veggies rice, other side dishes)

2nd day; Chicken sandwiches

3rd day; jook (rice soup) made with the bones...really, really good, especially with the cooler weather.

Not much left to dispose of besides the container and bones.
