Default Pocket Dump (EDC) - Everyday Carry

Pocket Dump. What's your EDC (Everyday Carry)?

This is my daily carry:

1. Multi-Tool/LED Light
2. USB Flash Drive
3. 2" Fold Knife
4. Android Phone + Earbud Headphones
5. Watch
6. Wallet

------
Noticed online some people carry several knifes, multi-tools and flashlights. Couldn't figure out why someone would want to carry that many duplicate items.

Not pocket, but purse dump:

Wallet
Phone
Pens
Small Memo Pad
Kleenex travel pack
pepper gel spray
Granola bar/protein bar

Small "essentials" bag containing:
lip balm
lip stick/lip gloss
baby wipes travel pack
small bottle of lotion
hand sanitizer gel
girl stuff
Benadryl
Advil
Leatherman multi-tool and bits

I had a small flashlight but my baby girl took it out one day to play with and I never saw that thing again.
Sometimes I carry a knife.

Yes, I have a heavy ass purse but I'm freakin prepared.

never can be too prepared?

seriously, though... you need the right tools for the right job, so maybe they carry a full-size leatherman when the mini one won't do (i think the mini ones have either pliers OR scissors, but not both).

doesn't the multi-tool/light make your pockets really heavy? i had to carry my leatherman in my pocket once when i lost the case, and it was really heavy in my pocket (sank straight to the bottom, almost pulled my pants down with it).

I carry as little as possible...I'm never too far away from any tools, so I don't really feel the need. I absolutely HATE having a load of crap in my pockets. My cars have all of the stuff in them, including a full weapons maintenance kit. Mwhaha.

I carry wallet...keys to the car, house, racetrack, bunker, that's about it.

Yeah I carry this one for that very reason, its light and fits comfortably in my pants pocket. Also quite cheap.

hey, that's cool!

i've never seen a multi-tool w/ a flashlight before! i'll have to check it out - is it bright?

i often have to carry my leatherman and led light on my belt when i go to troubleshoot computers and my network gear, since i'm crawling under desks, etc... and don't want to lug all my tools around. my old mini-maglight just ain't bright enough compared to even a cheap led light.

Yeah that caught my eye too. But then I realized I already use my phone as a flashlight. It only illuminates stuff you want to read or the ground you're walking on if it's really dark though.

It works for my needs, which is exactly what your doing...looking at computers and cabling behind desks and walls. Its not super bright like a true LED torch, but its brighter than an incandescent mag-lite and much more compact.

I have better flashlights and multi-tools, but they are all too heavy for everyday carry. I stopped carrying the full-size multi-tool, it was like carrying a half pound boulder.

A CC is safer than a Debit. 30 day fraud protection vs 3 business days on the Debit (and even then its on the good graces of the Bank).

But you gotta be smart with debt and pay off the balance each month, otherwise you would be more screwed with a CC. Its hillariously easy to get messed up and rack up debt...too easy.

----
I personally, had to deal with my gf's kid brother who got jacked. Someone stole his debit card info and drained his checking account of $ 2500 and left him $ 12.50. They did it real quick and knew the bank would be closed on Friday so they drained it over the weekend and he was stressing all Sunday waiting for the banks to open on Monday to deal with that crap (all customer service can do on weekends is deactivate the card, which is useless at that point).

They already busted several thieves who installed skimmers at Aloha Gas Stations and stole about 200 accounts and racked them up. It's that easy.

ayup. with my leatherman, tac lite, two-way, etc... all on my belt, they weigh a freakin' ton and i feel like batman.

i'm surprised i don't walk in circles to the right with all that crap on my belt during the day.

and even if i cinch up my belt tighter, they still weigh so much it feels like my jeans are sagging...

anything i can do to lose some of that bulk and weight on my belt will be welcome.

yeah- that was pretty impressive and well-thought out how they did it, installing them internally on the pumps while hiding behind a moving van.

usually the ones you see on ATMs on the mainland are bulky things clipped on to the fronts of the ATMS, if you take a close look you can see the gap or space where the things are clipped on, or they just look wrong/bulky.

it was only a matter of time before it happened here.

those RFID skimmers are going to be pretty scary if the technology really catches on, and banks/etc... begin implementing the technology into all cards (and not giving the consumers a choice whether they want the technology on their cards or not).

The same could be said when ATM's first came out....all they need was your card and pin# to rob you.

We just need to rethink security of the new technology and the soon to be adopted NFC wireless transmittal via our cellphones. One way is to separate it into multiple systems for each segment of the transaction. This would make it harder to circumvent as you gotta hack into each separate system.

For example, a quick solution to the skimmers is to have the scanner on the gas pump reads the card only. You then need to enter the pin on a separate system. It gets connected together at a terminal in the gas station. This defeats the skimmer system as it is not able to pull the pin #.

that is exactly why i give a nice tug on the card reader thing before i slide my card. if the shit comes out, something is fishy. I do it for ATM's too.
